Shah Rukh Khan in trouble over sex determination

Although Khan has not confirmed the news, reports last week claimed that he and wife Gauri were set to have a boy through surrogacy.
However, these news reports have not gone down well with the state’s Indian Radiological and Imaging Associations (IRIA).
“We have written to the state health department to find out how the actor came to know about the unborn child’s sex when sex determination is illegal in India,” said Dr Jignesh Thakkar, coordinator for the Pre-Conception Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, IRIA.
In the wake of the reports of skewed sex ratio across the state including Mumbai, radiologists are under the scanner of the state health department for allegedly conducting illegal sex determination.
“Though filling of form F [mandatory while conducting a ultrasound] has nothing to do with sex determination, radiologists are caught for it under the act,” said Dr Sanjeev Mani, senior radiologist, Holy Family Hospital, Bandra.
In the email sent to the top state health department officials,  including state health minister Suresh Shetty, IRIA has asked for an investigation and action against those concerned.
Doctors say there is a breach of law on the part of celebrities. “If news reports are true then it is a clear that the celebrities can get away with breaking the law,” said Thakker.
Health experts said the PCPNDT Act did not apply in case the sex determination was done outside the country.

But the news hasn't gone down well with the Indian Radiological and Imaging Asssociation (IRIA) who are going to take special note of the facts sprawled by news sources. Since sex determination tests are illegal in India, the Pre-Conception Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act of IRIA forbids any measures taken to know the sex of the child before, by law.

Since the disrupted male-female ratio is a brewing issue in Maharashtra specifically, authorities are strict about illegal sex determination that has been happening in the State under wraps. However, if the sex determination was done outside India, which is possible in SRK's case, the case wouldn't stand valid. However, no foolproof confirmation has come from SRK so far.
